Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Justice Yetunde Pinheiro of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has adjourned the hearing of a suit filed by reinstated Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, to March 17, 2025.<\/p>\n

Obasa, who was removed from office on January 13, 2025, over allegations of fraud, abuse of office, and misconduct by 35 lawmakers, is challenging his ouster.<\/p>\n

The respondents in the suit include members of the Lagos Assembly and former Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.<\/p>\n

At Monday\u2019s proceedings, counsel for the House of Assembly, Femi Falana (SAN), sought an adjournment, citing newly filed affidavits from Obasa\u2019s legal team.<\/p>\n

Meranda\u2019s counsel, Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), also requested time to respond to serious fraud allegations contained in the new filings.<\/p>\n

Justice Pinheiro ruled that all pending applications, including those on injunctions and jurisdiction, will be heard together on March 17.<\/p>\n

She directed all parties to file and exchange their legal processes before the next hearing.<\/p>\n

Obasa was reinstated following the intervention of Lagos APC leaders, but his refusal to withdraw the suit indicates lingering tensions within the Assembly.<\/p>\n
