Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Senate of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has approved the reopening of the institution, effective Tuesday, March 11, 2025, after a three-week closure triggered by student protests over fatal road accidents near the campus.<\/p>\n

This was contained in an official statement issued on Monday by the university\u2019s Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Rebecca Okojie.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Senate has approved the reopening of the university with effect from Tuesday, March 11, 2025, and lectures will commence fully on Monday, March 17, 2025,\u201d Okojie stated.<\/p>\n

She further disclosed that the decision followed an emergency Senate meeting convened to review the situation and ensure a safe learning environment for students.<\/p>\n

To address students\u2019 concerns about road safety, the university administration has engaged in discussions with relevant stakeholders, including state authorities and road safety officials.<\/p>\n

The university was shut down following demonstrations by the Students\u2019 Union, who expressed outrage over the deaths of five students in separate road mishaps.<\/p>\n

The protests led the school authorities to suspend academic activities to prevent further escalation.<\/p>\n
