Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has ordered the immediate closure of two schools in Minna Metropolis due to ongoing conflicts between students and local youths within the community.<\/p>\n

The affected schools include Government Day Secondary School, Bosso Road, Minna, and Father O\u2019Connell Science College, GSS, Minna.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, the decision follows an on-site assessment by the Ministry\u2019s management on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis closure will remain effective until further notice,\u201d Dr. Mohammed stated.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner explained that during the visit, the management observed disturbing incidents involving students and youth gangs posing as students.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese activities have contributed to rising insecurity within the schools and surrounding communities,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mohammed urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and proactive, as the state is implementing decisive measures.<\/p>\n

She also thanked parents and members of the public for their understanding and cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of the students.<\/p>\n
