Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A mysterious illness has reportedly led to the death of five students at the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA), sparking fear among students and staff.<\/p>\n

Sources within the university revealed that four students died last week, with another fatality recorded on Sunday.<\/p>\n

While officials have yet to determine the cause, students have raised concerns about the situation.<\/p>\n

Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the university for a meningitis awareness campaign, but it remains unclear if the disease is linked to the deaths.<\/p>\n

The university\u2019s registrar, Maimaru Alhaji Tilli, confirmed four of the deaths but admitted that the cause is still unknown.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted overcrowding in student accommodations as a pressing issue. The university has sought permission from the Ministry of Higher Education to temporarily shut down, though approval is still pending.<\/p>\n

In response to the crisis, the Students\u2019 Union Government (SUG) has urged the administration to close the school immediately to prevent further casualties.<\/p>\n
