Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s appointment of a new economic team.<\/p>\n
Buhari, on Monday, constituted an Economic Advisory Council (EAC), dissolving the previous led by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.<\/p>\n
The Presidency had said that the new team is made up of the following: Prof. Doyin Salami \u2013 Chairman; Dr. Mohammed Sagagi \u2013 Vice-Chairman; Prof. Ode Ojowu \u2013 Member; Dr. Shehu Yahaya \u2013 Member; Dr. Iyabo Masha \u2013 Member; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo \u2013 Member; Mr. Bismark Rewane \u2013 Member; Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu \u2013 Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy).<\/p>\n
Reacting, Ezekwesili, on Tuesday commending Buhari on the appointment, urged the newly constituted Economic team to make it a priority to tell President Muhammadu Buhari, how he has allegedly mismanaged the economy.<\/p>\n
Speaking on her verified Twitter handle, Ezekwesili claimed that the Economic Advisory Council system was copied from the American presidential system.<\/p>\n
Ezekwesili wrote, \u201cThe setting up a Council of Economic Advisors is in itself one of the features of the American Presidential system which we copied.<\/p>\n
\u201cStrong membership and that\u2019s really great. I hope the first thing they do is tell the President how he mismanaged the economy in the last 4 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor those who will jump on this timeline to say, \u2018It was not the President that was in charge of the economy. It was the VP chairing the Economic Team\u2019 please don\u2019t bother.<\/p>\n
