Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Members of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly, the faction led by Martin Amaewhule, have sent out a message to their constituents following the suspension of all elected officials of the state by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The declaration of a state of emergency by Tinubu means that the lawmakers would stay away from their legislative duties for the period of six months as declared by the President.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by Martin Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, on behalf of members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the lawmakers informed their constituents of the present situation while backing the President\u2019s action.<\/p>\n

The 27 lawmakers led by Amaewhule blamed the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for the condition of Rivers State today, accusing him of continually disobeying judgments and orders of the courts, failing to govern the state in line with his oath of office and the Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor\u2019s despotic and tyrannical actions, as confirmed by the courts, in which he also unconstitutionally obstructed the Rivers State House of Assembly\u2014an arm of government\u2014from functioning, underlie this situation,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an Assembly, we assure you all, our constituents, that we will abide by this declaration even though it is not what we prayed for.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr President has acted in the best interest of the country; therefore, we call on you all to remain calm as the Sole Administrator appointed by the President assumes his duty in the best interest of our State and Nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cRest assured that we will give any kind of support required of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the Sole Administrator in the best interest of our dear state.\u201d<\/p>\n
