A former governor of Kaduna <\/a>State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa and a Second Republic politician, Tanko Yakasai have said that a few Northerners clamouring for power in 2023 were doing so for their selfish interests.<\/p>\n

For Yakassai, he believes it was high time the South East produced the country\u2019s number one citizen.<\/p>\n

Yakassai added that whatever decision President Muhammadu Buhari decided to employ in his relationship with the Vice President was out of his free will and judgement.<\/p>\n

Both men spoke in a chat with Sun, where Musa declared that politicians from the North seeking to retain power beyond 2023 were unreasonable and do not have the interest of the country at heart.<\/p>\n

Yakassai said, \u201cThe North has 55 per cent of the population of this country. One man from the North can\u2019t speak and his views will be taken as the views of the entire North. It\u2019s wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuhari didn\u2019t speak for the North and his actions don\u2019t represent the North. He\u2019s just one man. We should separate these things and save the unity of this country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Buhari ran for election, he didn\u2019t win the entire North. The man who ran against him was from the North too.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey divided the votes. If Buhari couldn\u2019t win the entire North, does that not tell you that his views or actions don\u2019t represent that of the North?<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Buhari is on his own, he is a northerner but his action does not represent the North.<\/p>\n

\u201cSouth East is a part of Nigeria. It is high time the South East produced the President of Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n

Balarabe Musa added that Northerners seeking power beyond 2023 \u201cdo not have the interest of the country at heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are unreasonable and they are equally disuniting the country the more, because this power shift between the North and the South is, first and foremost, to take care of North-South dichotomy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
