{"id":156937,"date":"2025-03-27T12:00:59","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T11:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/kwara-taskforce-clears-illegal-billboards-signages-across-ilorin"},"modified":"2025-04-04T13:56:33","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T12:56:33","slug":"kwara-taskforce-clears-illegal-billboards-signages-across-ilorin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/kwara-taskforce-clears-illegal-billboards-signages-across-ilorin","title":{"rendered":"Kwara taskforce clears illegal billboards, signages across Ilorin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kwara State Taskforce Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signage swung into action on Wednesday to fully enforce the removal of unauthorised billboards and signage across major locations in Ilorin, the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>The committee took action following the expiration of the government\u2019s revocation of the 2024 billboards and signage permit and the seven-day ultimatum for owners to remove them voluntarily.<\/p>\n<p>According to the state government, the enforcement is \u201cin line with the current administration\u2019s Urban Renewal Programme, which aims to maintain a clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exercise, which involved the removal of all illegal structures, was carried out in key areas, including Unity Road, Post Office, Maraba, Fate Roundabout, Tanke Junction, Flower Garden, Oja Oba, Surulere, Airport Road, and Offa Garage.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the operation, the chairman of the taskforce and the state Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, expressed appreciation to Kwarans for their high level of compliance, noting that most billboard owners had voluntarily removed the structures before the enforcement team\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n<p>She further reiterated that \u201cdue to the ongoing cleanup exercise, all billboard practitioners and owners are directed to suspend changing banners or signage on their structures until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government will strictly enforce this directive, and any violations will be met with serious consequences, as stipulated by law. Your cooperation and compliance are greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll stakeholders must adhere to the government\u2019s directive to avoid penalties.
