{"id":157271,"date":"2025-03-31T09:55:20","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T08:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/wike-fubara-need-to-reveal-real-cause-of-rivers-crisis-govs-aide-omotsegunwa"},"modified":"2025-04-04T15:07:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:07:04","slug":"wike-fubara-need-to-reveal-real-cause-of-rivers-crisis-govs-aide-omotsegunwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/wike-fubara-need-to-reveal-real-cause-of-rivers-crisis-govs-aide-omotsegunwa","title":{"rendered":"Wike, Fubara need to reveal real cause of Rivers crisis \u2013 Gov\u2019s aide, Omotsegunwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Jerry Omotsegunwa, the Special Assistant to the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara on Electronic Media, has said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the governor need to clarify the cause of their conflict.<\/p>\n<p>Omotsegunwa said, \u201cThe FCT minister has not told us anything that led to the crisis, and the governor too has not provided any clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he issued, Omotsegunwa said Fubara still does not know why Wike turned against him.<\/p>\n<p>The political crisis between Fubara and Wike led to President Bola Tinubu declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu also suspended Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the crisis, the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said the crisis was over money.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on DW, Amaechi criticized Tinubu\u2019s decision to impose emergency rule in Rivers, calling it unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>However, Omotsegunwa described Amaechi\u2019s claim as a personal opinion because the real cause of the crisis is unknown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it stands right now, I will not dispute Amaechi\u2019s position even though he has the right to his own opinion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis crisis has dragged on for almost two years now, and nobody has told us what the actual problem is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other day, when they talked about impeaching the governor, he asked, \u2018What is my offence?\u2019 And the FCT minister said the governor tried to destroy his structure and all.
