{"id":158568,"date":"2025-04-04T15:44:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/abure-its-victory-for-rule-of-law-lps-caretaker-committee-chair-usman"},"modified":"2025-04-04T16:50:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T15:50:26","slug":"abure-its-victory-for-rule-of-law-lps-caretaker-committee-chair-usman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/abure-its-victory-for-rule-of-law-lps-caretaker-committee-chair-usman","title":{"rendered":"Abure: It\u2019s victory for  rule of law \u2013 LP\u2019s Caretaker Committee Chair, Usman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee, Senator Nenadi Usman, has reacted to the Supreme Court judgment sacking Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Party.<\/p>\n<p>Usman said the judgment is a victory for the rule of law and a significant milestone for the nation\u2019s democracy.<\/p>\n<p>The Apex Court set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which recognized Abure as the LP\u2019s National Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>A five-member panel of the apex court held that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to pronounce Abure as the National Chairman of the LP.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee said that LP remains steadfast in its mission to create a new Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read: \u201cThe recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which allowed the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman, declaring it meritorious, while dismissing the cross-appeal filed by the Abure faction of the Labour Party as unmeritorious, is a victory for the rule of law and a significant milestone for our democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to emphasize that this is not a time for triumphalism, there is no victor and no vanquished. What matters most is our shared commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the Labour Party and the Nigerian people.
