Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Police Command has dismissed as fake reports that an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo individuals was set ablaze in Kano, and the killing of an Igbo man in a reprisal attack.<\/p>\n

The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement issued on Saturday, 5th April 2025, that \u201cthese malicious reports were debunked by community stakeholders and have caused unnecessary apprehension\u201d in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Command wishes to inform the public that the state is generally calm and peaceful, despite the recent circulation of fake news and misinformation aimed at instigating violence and a breakdown of law and order,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

SP Kiyawa further explained that the command has implemented adequate security measures to ensure the safety and security of life and property.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge everyone to go about their lawful activities without fear. We appreciate the support and cooperation of the Kano State Government and the law-abiding citizens of Kano State, whose efforts have been instrumental in maintaining peace and order. We also commend various community leaders and stakeholders for their prompt action in debunking the fake news reports,\u201d he added<\/p>\n

The command warned against the dissemination of fake news, hate speech, and inciting content, which can cause harm and destabilise peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station. Together, we will continue to maintain and improve the peace and security of Kano State,\u201d Kiyawa stated.<\/p>\n
