{"id":158927,"date":"2025-04-08T08:38:04","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T07:38:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/lakurawa-attack-well-end-banditry-violent-crimes-in-kebbi-police"},"modified":"2025-04-15T12:11:43","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T11:11:43","slug":"lakurawa-attack-well-end-banditry-violent-crimes-in-kebbi-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/lakurawa-attack-well-end-banditry-violent-crimes-in-kebbi-police","title":{"rendered":"Lakurawa attack: We\u2019ll end banditry, violent crimes in Kebbi \u2013 Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kebbi State Police Command has vowed to put an end to banditry and violent crimes across the state.<\/p>\n<p>This is following a deadly attack by suspected members of the notorious Lakurawa group in Augie Local Government Area, with 16 villagers killed.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Monday, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that it had deployed tactical teams to hunt the terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the attack occurred on Saturday, April 6, 2025, at about 6 pm, when heavily armed assailants stormed two villages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attackers, who arrived in large numbers, rustled an unspecified number of cattle and engaged in a deadly confrontation with community members, which led to the tragic loss of sixteen lives,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, assured that justice would be swift and decisive.<\/p>\n<p>He announced the immediate deployment of additional tactical teams made up of the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilantes to the troubled areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur resolve to rid Kebbi State of banditry and other violent crimes remains firm.
