Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ogun State on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the rule of law and enhancing the security architecture in the state.<\/p>\n

This was made known during the 2025 Ogun State PCRC Leadership Retreat and Seminar held in Igbesa, Ado-Odo\/Ota Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, the PCRC State Chairman, Dr. Kunle Popoola, explained that the training was aimed at helping members understand the complexities of the law and enabling them to assist the police when needed.<\/p>\n

Popoola added that the PCRC is service-oriented in nature, focusing on supporting the police in upholding and enforcing the law while also collaborating with other security agencies.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cBy continuing to learn, unlearn, and relearn, the PCRC aims to remain relevant and effective in supporting the security architecture in Ogun State. We are doing our best to support the rule of law. We have been trained on the Penal Code, Police Act, and Criminal Code. It is a service-oriented group, and we are doing our best to support the security architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

He asserted that the presence of various security personnel at the training highlights the PCRC\u2019s increasing acceptance and collaboration with Ogun State law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the PCRC for the 2025 Leadership Retreat\/Seminar and admonished members to reorient themselves with integrity for quality service to the nation.<\/p>\n

Ogunlowo, who was represented by the Igbesa\/Ota Area Commander, ACP Tanarubo Folashade, urged PCRC members to always engage effectively with their DPOs, noting that they are the eyes of the police in their communities.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cGone are those days when PCRC members could not be trusted, but now they are people of high integrity. They must be accommodated for effective community policing, and they can serve as the eyes of each DPO in their respective policing communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delivering his keynote address, Henry Obiazi emphasized that ignorance of the law is not an excuse, urging members of the public to strictly adhere to the rule of law in all their dealings.<\/p>\n

He, however, commended the PCRC for bridging the gap between the police and the community in fostering effective security architecture.<\/p>\n

Others present at the event included Mrs. Olajumoke Johnson, Registrar of OGITECH; Deputy Comptroller of Customs, A.I. Ayam, representing the Comptroller of Ogun 2 Area Command; Bisi Alade; and Ojeku Ojetunji, representing the TRACE Commander, among others.<\/p>\n
