{"id":159024,"date":"2025-04-10T22:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T21:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/mob-kills-man-injures-another-for-stealing-dog-in-bauchi"},"modified":"2025-04-15T12:41:41","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T11:41:41","slug":"mob-kills-man-injures-another-for-stealing-dog-in-bauchi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/mob-kills-man-injures-another-for-stealing-dog-in-bauchi","title":{"rendered":"Mob kills man, injures another for stealing dog in Bauchi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into a mob attack that left one man dead and another critically injured over allegations of dog theft in the Lushi area of Bauchi metropolis.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, identified as Peter (surname yet to be confirmed), was lynched by a group of youths who accused him and another man of stealing a dog.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the Spokesman of the Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at about 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Wakil said the second victim, 38-year-old Dokagk Danladi, sustained severe machete wounds to the head during the attack.<\/p>\n<p>He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH for treatment, while Peter was found dead at the scene and declared deceased by medical personnel.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, visited the scene to collect evidence and better understand the circumstances surrounding the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the act, describing it as \u201cbarbaric and detrimental to our nation\u2019s legal framework.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He warned that the Command under his leadership would not tolerate acts of jungle justice or allow individuals to take the law into their own hands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one has the right to brutalize a suspect. It is unlawful and unacceptable for anyone to assume the role of law enforcement.
