{"id":159100,"date":"2025-04-12T12:07:02","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T11:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/lagos-police-launch-probe-into-explosion-at-ikeja-cctv-shop"},"modified":"2025-04-15T12:54:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T11:54:12","slug":"lagos-police-launch-probe-into-explosion-at-ikeja-cctv-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/lagos-police-launch-probe-into-explosion-at-ikeja-cctv-shop","title":{"rendered":"Lagos: Police launch probe into explosion at Ikeja CCTV Shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an explosion that occurred at a CCTV dealer\u2019s shop on Kodesho Street, near the popular Computer Village in Ikeja.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the incident took place at about 6:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hundeyin, operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment, and other police teams quickly moved in, cordoning off the scene to safeguard lives and property.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe scene of the explosion and adjoining areas were immediately taken over and cordoned off by operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment, and conventional Lagos State Police Command teams,\u201d said Mr. Hundeyin, a chief superintendent of police.<\/p>\n<p>He added that EOD specialists swept the area to neutralize any potential secondary threats and to support an in-depth investigation into the cause of the blast.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Idowu, visited the site for an immediate assessment.<\/p>\n<p>While assuring the public that the situation had been brought under control, the police urged residents to remain calm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople can go about their lawful activities without fear,\u201d the commissioner was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary investigations revealed that five people who were in and around the shop at the time of the explosion suffered varying degrees of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>They were promptly taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Command hereby wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to maintain peace and security throughout the state,\u201d Mr. Hundeyin added.<\/p>\n<p>The police said further updates will be provided as investigations progress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
