{"id":159211,"date":"2025-04-13T21:49:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T20:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nothing-new-to-reveal-presidency-reacts-to-us-court-order-on-tinubus-records"},"modified":"2025-04-15T13:16:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T12:16:32","slug":"nothing-new-to-reveal-presidency-reacts-to-us-court-order-on-tinubus-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nothing-new-to-reveal-presidency-reacts-to-us-court-order-on-tinubus-records","title":{"rendered":"Nothing new to reveal \u2013 Presidency reacts to US court order on Tinubu\u2019s records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Presidency on Sunday, reacted to the United States, US, District Court of Columbia ordering the Federal Bureau of Intelligence, FBI, to reveal President Bola Tinubu\u2019s information.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu\u2019s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga said there was nothing new to reveal about the case.<\/p>\n<p>Onanuga said reports by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA have been in the public space for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to questions from journalists, Onanuga said the reports did not indict the Nigerian leader.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Beryl Howell gave the order on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The development followed a motion by Aaron Greenspan, an American who is seeking a reconsideration of an earlier ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Howell said protecting the information from public disclosure is \u201cneither logical nor plausible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greenspan had accused the FBI of violating the Freedom of Information Act, FOIA, by failing to release within the statutory time \u201cdocuments relating to purported federal investigations into\u201d Tinubu and one Abiodun Agbele.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu was claimed to have forfeited $460,000 to the American government in 1993 after authorities linked the funds to proceeds of narcotics trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Onanuga posted on X: \u201cJournalists have sought the Presidency\u2019s reaction to the ruling last Tuesday by a Washington DC judge ordering the US FBI and DEA to release reports connected with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur response is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing new to be revealed. The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reports did not indict the Nigerian leader.
