Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>In response to a series of deadly attacks in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, which resulted in multiple fatalities, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has visited the state to assess the situation and express solidarity with the victims.<\/p>\n

Accompanied by top police officials\u2014including AIG Funsho Adegboye (Police Mobile Force), AIG Zachariah Fera (Zone 4), and AIG Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka (Commandant, Police Staff College Jos)\u2014the IGP arrived in Plateau State to evaluate the security landscape and offer assurances of justice and safety.<\/p>\n

During a meeting at the Plateau State Government House in Jos, the police boss met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe attacks are both unacceptable and deeply troubling,\u201d said the IGP. \u201cWe are here to not only grieve with the people of Plateau but to take concrete actions. The Nigeria Police will pursue the perpetrators relentlessly and ensure they face justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

To strengthen security and restore order, the IGP held strategic talks with top tactical commanders to review current security operations and rework deployment frameworks. He also directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, to take charge of on-ground coordination in affected areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur top priority remains the safety and security of every Nigerian,\u201d Egbetokun emphasized. \u201cWe are stepping up intelligence-gathering and operational strategies to stop further violence and secure lasting peace in Plateau.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its full support for Plateau State during this challenging time and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and justice throughout the country.<\/p>\n

In a statement from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured the public that police efforts to restore peace and order in the region are unwavering and ongoing.<\/p>\n
