Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Censorship Board has commenced a state-wide operation targeting commercial tricycles bearing obscene images and indecent inscriptions, in a bid to sanitize public spaces and protect societal values.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, ordered the deployment of officers to major roads across the state to enforce the directive.<\/p>\n

According to him, the operation aligns with the board\u2019s mandate to ensure that content displayed in public, whether visual or textual, adheres to moral and cultural standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur duty is to ensure that no image or text that can harm public morals or values, especially those of the youth, is displayed without being vetted,\u201d El-Mustapha said in a statement released by the board\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the proliferation of explicit visuals on tricycles, popularly known as adaidaita sahu, poses a threat to public decency and moral development, particularly among impressionable members of the society.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the Director of the censorship department, Abubakar Zakari Garun Babba, expressed worry over what he described as a growing disregard for cultural values by some tricycle operators.<\/p>\n

He warned that the board would not condone such actions and vowed that the operation would continue until compliance is achieved across the state.<\/p>\n

He further urged tricycle riders to desist from displaying inappropriate materials that could attract legal sanctions, and appealed to the public to support the board\u2019s efforts in promoting a morally upright society.<\/p>\n
