Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has called on residents of Zilkke village in the Bassa Local Government Area to remain vigilant and defend themselves amid recurring attacks by suspected criminal elements.<\/p>\n

The call followed the recent brutal assault on the town, in which gunmen killed over 50 people, injured scores, including women and children and razed more than 40 houses.<\/p>\n

The attack came just two weeks after similar violence in Bokkos LGA that claimed over 80 lives.<\/p>\n

Speaking during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the village on Tuesday, Mutfwang addressed survivors sheltered in a local primary school.<\/p>\n

He stressed the need for self-defence while cautioning against retaliatory actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are more determined than ever to ensure that no more innocent blood is shed on the Plateau. While we continue to invest in security, communities must also rise to defend themselves,\u201d the governor stated.<\/p>\n

The governor also reassured the people of the government\u2019s commitment to rebuilding affected areas and supporting displaced families.<\/p>\n

He further urged the youths to remain alert, particularly with the farming season approaching.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people who attacked us are not ghosts, they are known, and those shielding them are complicit,\u201d Mutfwang said.<\/p>\n
