{"id":159852,"date":"2025-04-18T23:17:23","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T22:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/i-wanted-fubara-removed-tinubu-saved-rivers-from-calamity-wike"},"modified":"2025-04-22T22:03:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T21:03:14","slug":"i-wanted-fubara-removed-tinubu-saved-rivers-from-calamity-wike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/i-wanted-fubara-removed-tinubu-saved-rivers-from-calamity-wike","title":{"rendered":"I wanted Fubara removed, Tinubu saved Rivers from calamity \u2013 Wike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said he wanted the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, to be outrightly removed.<\/p>\n<p>Wike said President Bola Tinubu saved Rivers State from crisis and anarchy by suspending Fubara and declaring a state of emergency in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The political crisis in Rivers State led to Tinubu suspending Fubara for six months while appointing a Sole Administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu also proclaimed a state of emergency in the state within the six months.<\/p>\n<p>However, Wike said the action of the president prevented calamity in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Wike said: \u201cAs a politician, I\u2019m not happy because I wanted the outright removal of the governor, but for the interest of the state, the president did the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople must say the truth, the governor was gone, people should be worshipping Mr. President every morning for saving them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMind you, the Supreme Court has said that money should not go to the local government when it\u2019s not democratically elected. Also, the Supreme Court said nobody will go to the state without appropriation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll institutions will be shut down; it\u2019s not in my place to make it good for the governor as a politician.
