{"id":161158,"date":"2025-05-02T20:34:45","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T19:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/biafra-simon-ekpa-will-soon-be-extradited-to-nigeria-fg-witness-tells-court"},"modified":"2025-05-02T20:34:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T19:34:45","slug":"biafra-simon-ekpa-will-soon-be-extradited-to-nigeria-fg-witness-tells-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/biafra-simon-ekpa-will-soon-be-extradited-to-nigeria-fg-witness-tells-court","title":{"rendered":"Biafra: Simon Ekpa will soon be extradited to Nigeria \u2013 FG witness tells court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A prosecuting witness on Friday disclosed that the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra, Simon Ekpa, will soon be extradited from Finland to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government\u2019s witness stated that Ekpa will be extradited to stand trial for supporting the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.<\/p>\n<p>The witness, identified only as \u201cAAA\u201d and a staff member of the Department of State Services, DSS, made the disclosure while being cross-examined by Kanu\u2019s lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho.<\/p>\n<p>The witness was part of the team that arrested Kanu on 15 October 2015 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that Ekpa had already been arrested and was currently undergoing extradition proceedings for his support of IPOB and for \u201cinciting violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The witness further confirmed that no weapons or instruments of violence were found in Kanu\u2019s possession at the time of his arrest in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that the woman found in Kanu\u2019s hotel room was not considered a suspect, having established that she met the defendant via social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lady was adjudged to be innocent,\u201d the witness testified.<\/p>\n<p>Following the proceedings, Justice Omotosho adjourned the trial to 6, 7, and 8 May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The IPOB leader is presently facing trial on charges relating to terrorism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
