{"id":161520,"date":"2025-05-06T23:21:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T22:21:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/terrorism-nnamdi-kanu-wanted-kogi-benue-to-join-biafra-dss-operative-tells-court"},"modified":"2025-05-07T00:25:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T23:25:16","slug":"terrorism-nnamdi-kanu-wanted-kogi-benue-to-join-biafra-dss-operative-tells-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/terrorism-nnamdi-kanu-wanted-kogi-benue-to-join-biafra-dss-operative-tells-court","title":{"rendered":"Terrorism: Nnamdi Kanu wanted Kogi, Benue to join Biafra \u2013 DSS operative tells court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A second prosecution witness and operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, has disclosed that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, wanted parts of Kogi and Benue States to join Biafra secession.<\/p>\n<p>The DSS operative identified as BBB said that Kanu affirmed the claim while making his statement which was recorded.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed this while testifying as the second prosecution witness against Kanu at the Justice James Omotosho-led Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>BBB, who was testifying behind a screen was led in evidence by prosecuting lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo, who showed him a copy of a compact disc, which he identified as containing the recording of his interaction with Kanu.<\/p>\n<p>Awomolo then applied to tender the letter from the AGF, the disc, and a certificate of compliance.<\/p>\n<p>But, Kanu\u2019s lawyer, Kanu Agabi objected to the prosecution\u2019s application to tender the items.<\/p>\n<p>Agabi argued that the defence was not served with the AGF letter and the video recording.<\/p>\n<p>Agabi said it was part of the right of the defendant to be given copies of all documents and materials that the prosecution planned to rely on in prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n<p>Awomolo said he was ready to furnish the defendant with all the necessary documents and materials that the prosecution wishes to rely on.<\/p>\n<p>Ruling, Justice James Omotosho held that the defence was entitled to all the documents and materials the prosecution planned to rely on.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Omotosho proceeded to order the prosecution to, in line with the provision of Section 36 of the Constitution, serve on the defendant all facilities, including documents that it intends to rely on to prosecute the case.<\/p>\n<p>Upon an application by Awomolo, Justice Omotosho adjourned till May 7 to enable the prosecution to serve the defence with all the necessary documents and for the PW 2 to continue his testimony.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
