Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Niger State House of Assembly has tasked its Committee on Works and Infrastructure to investigate the uncompleted General Hospital Minna building project in the state.<\/p>\n

This decision was reached following a motion sponsored by Hon. Pharm. Nasir Umar, Member Representing Paikoro Constituency, during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Barr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji.<\/p>\n

Nasir told the House that the construction project, initiated by the past administration under Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, was aimed at mitigating the overstretched facilities of the General Hospital Minna.<\/p>\n

He explained that in spite of the relocation of some departments to temporary sites, the project remains uncompleted, thereby exacerbating the hospital\u2019s infrastructural decay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe uncompleted project has led to increased referrals to private clinics, which charge exorbitant rates for healthcare. Medical doctors working at the hospital have also been referring patients to their privately owned hospitals,\u201d the lawmaker lamented.<\/p>\n

Nasir maintained, \u201cUnless the building project is completed and equipped with upgraded facilities, the hospital will continue to suffer infrastructural decay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Subsequently, the House unanimously adopted the motion and tasked the Committee on Works and Infrastructure to conduct a thorough investigation into the project\u2019s status and provide recommendations for its completion.<\/p>\n
