Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Obedient Movement, a political pressure group that supports the presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi has attacked the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.<\/p>\n

The attack is coming on the heels of a recent remark made by Akpabio, where he stated that Obi who was clamouring to lead a country as big as Nigeria but has not been able to solve a small crisis bedeviling his party, LP.<\/p>\n

But in reply to this, Obedient Movement in a press statement released on Saturday and made available to DAILY POST in Awka by the group\u2019s Director of Strategic Communication and Media, Nana Kazaure accused Akpabio\u2019s party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, of being behind the LP Crisis by shielding sacked National Chairman of LP, Mr Julius Abure with state sponsored security.<\/p>\n

Kazaure said it is not a wonder that the 10th Senate being led by Akpabio has been described as the worst in Nigeria\u2019s history because his character as a man who lacks discretion in speaking and self control in action is already in public domain.<\/p>\n

Part of the release read: \u201cIt is well known that the President of the 10th Senate is not particularly renowned for the substance or depth of his public utterances. However, we did not anticipate that he would descend to such an embarrassing low.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the benefit of Senator Akpabio, the internal issues within the Labour Party were duly taken before the courts by stakeholders of the party, under the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Supreme Court \u2013 the highest court in the land \u2013 gave a clear and unambiguous ruling, affirming that the individual currently parading himself as the party chairman is doing so illegally.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than comply with the court\u2019s directive, this usurper has been emboldened by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which continues to provide him with state security cover. These actions have rendered the Senate President\u2019s insinuation that Mr. Obi is<\/p>\n

overwhelmed by intra-party crises not only disingenuous but also hypocritical.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kazaure added that: \u201cIt is deeply ironic and unbecoming for Senator Akpabio to publicly highlight a situation his own party has played a key role in manufacturing and sustaining. If anything, his comments serve only to advertise his complicity in the artificial and externally-driven disruptions to the Labour Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is, in fact, no crisis within the Labour Party. What persists is the shameless interference of the APC \u2013 Senator Akpabio\u2019s party \u2013 in facilitating the illegal tenure of Julius Abure, despite the clear ruling of the Supreme Court.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movement described Obi as a man who has a sterling record of achievements in public office, which Akpabio can neither controvert, not diminish.<\/p>\n
