Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Obidient Movement has responded to the claim by the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, that Peter Obi does not oppose Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n

Sowore, who appeared on Channels Television\u2019s Inside Sources, had said Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, cannot be referred to as an opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why anybody refers to Peter Obi as an opposition,\u201d he said, adding Obi \u201cis not opposed to anything the government is doing. \u201d<\/p>\n

He also noted that the former Anambra State Governor did nothing when fuel prices were increased.<\/p>\n

But reacting, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, told Channels Television that Obi\u2019s relevance in national discourse remained \u201cunmatched.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tanko said, \u201cSo, the question we want to ask is this: when someone is not a worthy opposition, why do you keep talking about him? As we stand today in Nigerian politics, if they don\u2019t talk about Peter Obi, none of them gets traction. None.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether he goes to the toilet, speaks, or makes a statement, it becomes news. That\u2019s the level of Peter Obi\u2019s relevance in today\u2019s political dispensation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tanko also criticised the recent comment on Obi by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during a valedictory session for the late Chief Edwin Clark.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo a point that Peter Obi was discussed at a valedictory service by no less a person than the Senate President \u2014 not even on national policy, but on character assassination. That says a lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should allow Peter Obi to continue doing what he\u2019s doing \u2014 challenging the establishment for the interests of the Nigerian people, which he will continue to do, and which we will continue to support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
