Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has said his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was not to kill the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n

Oborevwori said the PDP can\u2019t make any headway in 2027, hence the decision of his administration to form a political alignment with the APC.<\/p>\n

Speaking through the state\u2019s Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, at a press briefing in Asaba, the governor said the intention of his administration was to move the state forward.<\/p>\n

Oborevwori, former PDP\u2019s running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa and some chieftains of the party in the state had defected to the APC.<\/p>\n

However, the governor said his alignment with APC was aimed at advancing the state\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur desire is not to kill PDP but to move Delta forward, and so we changed our driving pattern.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was obvious that PDP won\u2019t make headway in the forthcoming 2027 election, and so [there was] need to move to APC,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the performance of his administration, he added, \u201cIn almost two years, we can see very bold and remarkable achievements by Governor Oborevwori and his team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have provided roads in various communities, reducing travel time from Asaba to Ughelli to just one hour and forty-five minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He dismissed concerns raised by critics about the government\u2019s capacity to deliver, stating, \u201cAnyone suggesting that the administration is losing grip is far from the truth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain committed to delivering results.\u201d<\/p>\n
