{"id":162719,"date":"2025-05-16T12:28:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T11:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/efcc-arraigns-chinese-man-in-lagos"},"modified":"2025-05-16T13:43:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T12:43:45","slug":"efcc-arraigns-chinese-man-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/efcc-arraigns-chinese-man-in-lagos","title":{"rendered":"EFCC arraigns Chinese man in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a Chinese national, Li Kuang Kuang, before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on charges related to cyber-terrorism and internet fraud.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Thursday, the Commission stated that Kuang appeared before Justice Daniel Osiagor on a one-count charge of cybercrime.<\/p>\n<p>Kuang was identified as one of 792 individuals apprehended during a major sting operation known as the \u201cEagle Flush Operation,\u201d which took place on December 19, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The operation targeted a syndicate allegedly engaged in cryptocurrency investment scams and romance fraud schemes.<\/p>\n<p>The charge against Kuang reads: \u201cThat you, Li Kuang Kuang, and Genting International Co. Limited, sometime in December 2024 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, willfully accessed a computer system with the intent to destabilize and destroy Nigeria\u2019s economy and social structure, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 18 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.)
