Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has again assured Nigerians that the country\u2019s security forces are intensifying efforts with renewed momentum to combat insecurity.<\/p>\n

This was as President Tinubu and security chiefs met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa on Friday in Abuja.<\/p>\n

The meeting came in the wake of exacerbating insecurity in some parts of the country, particularly in the northern region, where Islamic terrorists are attacking civilians and even the military.<\/p>\n

CDS Musa, while speaking to newsmen, said the meeting was convened to review the entire security landscape of Nigeria and strategise on the way forward.<\/p>\n

According to him, the President has raised concerns over the security situation and directed that they should do everything in their power to protect lives and property.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThe President is concerned about what\u2019s going on, and we have reassured him that we are on top of our game. We are working extremely hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Defence Chief pointed to a growing regional threat across the Sahel, which he said has been spilling into Nigeria due to porous borders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat has happened of recent is that there\u2019s a global push by terrorists and jihadists all over the Sahel. That pressure is what actually came into Nigeria,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He further stated that President Tinubu has already approved the procurement of more equipment, including air assets, to bolster operations across the country\u2019s troubled zones.<\/p>\n

General Musa equally stressed the importance of combining military action with non-kinetic measures such as community engagement, intergovernmental collaboration, and delivery of democratic dividends to restive communities.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed that all security agencies are operating in synergy, working as a unified team to restore peace.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by top security chiefs, including the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Ajayi; and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.<\/p>\n
