Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Police Command has apprehended six suspects and recovered four stolen vehicles following a coordinated crackdown on armed robbery syndicates across the state.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on May 20, 2025, the Command revealed that its tactical operations led to arrests in Plateau, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Kano States.<\/p>\n

The operations targeted organized criminal groups believed to be responsible for a string of violent robberies and vehicle thefts.<\/p>\n

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the first major arrest was made on May 10 when officers tracked and apprehended one Saidu Abubakar in Plateau State.<\/p>\n

He was found in possession of a stolen 2016 Toyota Corolla, reportedly robbed in Kano from one Nura Abdullahi on May 2. \u201cThe suspect confessed to being part of a syndicate specialized in vehicle snatching,\u201d SP Kiyawa stated.<\/p>\n

In a separate operation, the Command arrested three suspects identified as Abdulaziz Usman (27), Umar Abubakar (22), and Sunusi Abdullahi (28).<\/p>\n

The trio allegedly invaded a residence in Hotoro, Kano, at about 3:30 a.m. on May 1, armed with knives and cutlasses.<\/p>\n

They reportedly stole a Toyota Yaris, laptops, an iPhone 11, \u20a6102,000 in cash, and other valuables. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Umar Aliyu in Kaduna State, described as a \u201creceiver\u201d of stolen goods. Two vehicles\u2014a Toyota Yaris and an unregistered Peugeot 406 stolen from Bechi Quarters in Kumbotso LGA\u2014were recovered.<\/p>\n

Further success came on May 16 when detectives intercepted Ibrahim Isa in Kano while attempting to sell a suspected stolen Howo concrete mixer truck.<\/p>\n

Investigations revealed the truck had been stolen earlier that day in Kazaure, Jigawa State.<\/p>\n

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers for their professionalism and commitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese arrests reflect our unwavering resolve to dismantle criminal networks and protect the lives and property of citizens,\u201d he said. \u201cWe urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Commissioner also reiterated the Command\u2019s dedication to securing Kano State and encouraged residents to use the provided emergency contacts\u201408032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926\u2014to share timely information with the police.<\/p>\n

All suspects remain in custody and are assisting ongoing investigations, with charges to follow.<\/p>\n
