Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>An 18-year-old boy has been remanded in a correctional centre by an Akure Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing items worth millions of naira after breaking into a shop.<\/p>\n

The defendant, Alex Favour, was brought before the court by the Ondo State Police Command on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.<\/p>\n

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adebayo Sulaiman, informed the court that Favour committed the alleged offenses along Oda Road, Akure, the state capital, between November 2024 and January 2025.<\/p>\n

According to Sulaiman, the teenager had, within the period, unlawfully broken into a shop with the intent to commit a felony and carted away several items, including electric wire valued at N50,000, 15 OX power electric motors worth N800,000, and eight pieces of vibrators valued at N1.6 million.<\/p>\n

With the stolen items said to belong to One Folorunsho Emmanuel, the police prosecutor, emphasised that the offences contravened Sections 414 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.<\/p>\n

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him, with his counsel, B.S. Obilor, appealing to the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms.<\/p>\n

The counsel assured the court that the defendant was prepared to meet any bail conditions imposed and would provide credible sureties.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, in his ruling, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, and the sureties must reside within the court\u2019s jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

Favour was subsequently remanded at the correctional facility pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions, with the matter adjourned till June 9, 2025.<\/p>\n
