Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Benue State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly on Wednesday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.<\/p>\n

The endorsement, which came during a press briefing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, makes the Benue APC Caucus the first legislative group in the 10th Assembly to formally declare support for President Tinubu\u2019s re-election bid.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the group, Senator Titus Zam (Benue North-West) said the decision was based on the president\u2019s \u201ctransformative leadership\u201d and the numerous federal interventions in Benue State since the beginning of his administration in May 2023.<\/p>\n

Flanked by Senator Emmanuel Udende (Benue North-East) and ten APC members of the House of Representatives from Benue, Zam listed a number of infrastructure projects, economic initiatives, and security efforts credited to the Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n

Among the highlighted projects are the 465-kilometre Calabar\u2013Ebonyi\u2013Benue\u2013Nasarawa\u2013Abuja Superhighway, the reconstruction of the Makurdi\u2013Aliade\u2013Otukpo\u2013Enugu Road, and the dualization of the 9th Mile\u2013Otukpo\u2013Makurdi Road. Others include the \u20a683.8 billion Buruku Bridge across the Katsina-Ala River, the rehabilitation of the Oju\u2013Cross River federal road, and the construction of a flyover at Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi.<\/p>\n

The Caucus also pointed to federal support for health and education in the state, citing improved funding for the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), and its teaching hospital.<\/p>\n

The establishment of an Infectious Disease Control Centre in Vandeikya and a Federal College of Agricultural Technology in Opialu Ojapo were also mentioned as major achievements.<\/p>\n

In the housing sector, the lawmakers highlighted the construction of 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing Scheme and the approval of 1,000 more under the Pulaku Resettlement Initiative.<\/p>\n

They further noted the disbursement of \u20a644 billion to Benue State by the Federal Government, comprising \u20a65 billion post-subsidy removal funds, \u20a69 billion in infrastructure support, and \u20a630 billion under the Subnational Intervention Fund.<\/p>\n

On security, the Caucus commended President Tinubu\u2019s efforts but urged the Benue State Government to strengthen collaboration with federal security agencies. They called for enhanced intelligence gathering and community engagement to tackle the persistent insecurity in parts of the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs representatives of the people, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting President Tinubu and the nation\u2019s security forces in their efforts to restore peace and stability in Benue State,\u201d Zam stated.<\/p>\n

The lawmakers pledged to use their legislative powers to push for further interventions and to support displaced farmers and communities affected by violence across the state.<\/p>\n
