Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Zamfara State government has revealed serious steps to reduce maternal and newborn mortality rates in the state.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesman of the State\u2019s Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, which was made available to newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Health Commissioner, Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, said the state government has declared a state of emergency in the health sector, saying that the move would correct all health injustice in the state.<\/p>\n

Dr Maradun stated that addressing this critical issue is a top priority for Governor Dauda Lawal\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

She highlighted several government efforts to improve health for women and children; including making it easy to access good health care across the state.<\/p>\n

Dr Maradun said that health centers are being fixed up and improved to meet the State, national and international standards, leading to better health care. Hospitals and clinics are also getting new medical tools and equipment.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner further stressed that the State government cares deeply about its people, especially pregnant mothers and children, as evidenced by the various high impact activities planned for in the 2025 annual operational plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actions show a strong dedication and commitments towards providing good health care and lowering risks during childbirth\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n

Dr. Maradun believes these efforts will greatly cut down on maternal and newborn deaths in all 14 local government areas of the State.<\/p>\n

She also noted that getting lasting solutions and results will be achieved with increased staff dedication and teamwork.<\/p>\n
