Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>An Ikeja Magistrates\u2019 Court has ordered the remand of two men, Olaitan Fasasi, 40, and Kehinde Tobilola, 26, at a correctional facility following their arraignment for attempted murder and alleged involvement in cult-related activities.<\/p>\n

The suspects were brought before the court on Thursday by the Lagos State Police, which charged them with a three-count indictment bordering on attempted murder and membership of an unlawful society.<\/p>\n

The prosecution argued that the alleged offences violate several provisions of Lagos State laws.<\/p>\n

Prosecuting counsel, Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the duo, along with other accomplices still at large, carried out the offences on February 15, 2025, around 5:00 p.m. in the Mushin area of the state.<\/p>\n

She alleged that the defendants were armed with a locally made firearm and attempted to murder one Alfred Ademola by firing at him.<\/p>\n

Ikhayere further noted that the charges contravene Sections 230(1) and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, and also violate Section 2(3) (a)(b)(c)(d) of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State.<\/p>\n

Presiding Magistrate, Lateef Owolabi, ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for legal advice. He adjourned the case to May 21, 2025, for further hearing.<\/p>\n
