{"id":164269,"date":"2025-05-26T12:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-26T11:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ssanu-unilorin-rejects-sharing-formula-for-n50bn"},"modified":"2025-05-26T13:38:44","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T12:38:44","slug":"ssanu-unilorin-rejects-sharing-formula-for-n50bn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/ssanu-unilorin-rejects-sharing-formula-for-n50bn","title":{"rendered":"SSANU Unilorin rejects sharing formula for N50bn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, University of Ilorin Branch, has rejected the sharing formula for the N50bn earned allowance released by the Federal government for unions in public universities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Union said it received the news of the outcome of the N50bn earned allowance sharing committee with disbelief and disappointment, saying Nigerians and the public must understand the injustice being meted on the non teaching staff in the Nigeria public universities.<\/p>\n<p>It warned that the university is a system where no group can claim a monopoly of superiority over the others in terms of productivity, performance and impact on the whole of the system.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by the branch chairman, Falowo Olushola Naheem, in Ilorin on Monday, said, \u201cthe sharing formula lacked the principle of justice, equity and fairness,\u201d describing it as a case of robbing the non-teaching unions to pay the academic unions.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said, \u201cthe allocation of 80% to the academic staff and 20% to the three other non-teaching unions of SSANU, NASU and NAAT, is a clear case of robbing Peter to pay Paul and gross injustice committed against the non-teaching union members of the universities, it is unacceptable, unsatisfactory, and totally rejected by all the three non-teaching unions of public universities in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call on the federal government through the Minister of Education as a matter of necessity to call the so-called sharing committee to order by addressing this injustice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe use this avenue to bring to the awareness of the public that by this action, the government seems not to be interested in the development and stability of the public universities, if not why instigate one union against the others? Knowing fully well that the action is not only provocative but capable of disrupting the peace and stability of our public universities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe therefore call on all well-meaning Nigerians and stakeholders in public education in Nigeria to wade into this impending crisis before it gets to a full-blown crisis or point of no return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe commend the show of maturity and placidity displayed by our members across the country on this issue, this is to show that we are lovers of our callings, despite the conspicuous provocation, we are still able to get the universities going, this is a display of \u201ctrue patriots,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
