Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman has urged government, non-profit organizations, and human rights activists to intensify efforts in combating child abuse and trafficking across the state.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Tuesday, Dr. Suleiman emphasized the critical role all stakeholders must play in protecting the rights and welfare of children.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernments, non-profit organizations, and human rights activists must be actively involved whenever cases of child abuse or maltreatment are identified,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs custodians of the law, we must ensure that traffickers, abusers, and offenders face the full wrath of the law. This will serve as a deterrent to others.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Speaker also appealed to parents and guardians to provide love, care, and support to their children.<\/p>\n

\u201cChildren are gifts from Almighty God and should be treated with utmost love and concern,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents must ensure children\u2019s basic needs are met and that they are not left to fend for themselves or sent far away without proper provisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also urged families not to abandon victims of abuse or rape, stressing on the importance of community support for survivors.<\/p>\n

Dr. Suleiman acknowledged that the Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed several child-centered bills, that have been assented to by Governor Bala Mohammed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain committed to the welfare, protection, and support of children in Bauchi State. We will continue to collaborate and make laws that improve the living conditions of children in the state and across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
