Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Team Ogun athletes representing the state at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival on Wednesday protested over the non-payment of allowances.<\/p>\n

In a video made available to our correspondent, buses conveying athletes to different event venues were stranded as Ogun athletes were seen blocking the entrance of the Games Village at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo.<\/p>\n

The protest restricted the movement of athletes whose events were scheduled to start at 8 a.m. from proceeding to competition venues at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Kuto and the Alake Sports Centre in Ijeja.<\/p>\n

Some members of the LOC tried appealing to the athletes to take the protest to the appropriate authorities instead of disrupting activities at the university.<\/p>\n

The athletes, however, insisted they wouldn\u2019t leave until the governor or someone capable of resolving the issue meets them there or makes the payments as promised.<\/p>\n
