{"id":164724,"date":"2025-05-29T09:52:54","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T08:52:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/federal-mortgage-bank-begs-abia-govt-to-help-in-recovery"},"modified":"2025-05-29T11:21:40","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T10:21:40","slug":"federal-mortgage-bank-begs-abia-govt-to-help-in-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/federal-mortgage-bank-begs-abia-govt-to-help-in-recovery","title":{"rendered":"Federal Mortgage Bank begs Abia govt to help in recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Director, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Chineye Anosike has appealed to the Abia State government to assist it in recovering backlogs of payments from loan granted to civil servants in the State spanning from 2019 to May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>She made the call in Umuahia when she led the management of the Federal Mortgage Bank to the Abia State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Director lamented regretted that some deductions made by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies have not been remitted to enable the updating of their records and for sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Anosike, who applauded the administration of Governor Alex Otti for the significant achievements made since his assumption of office, announced that keys to the remaining 18 houses completing the 100 houses which were built by the Federal Mortgage Bank at Ubani Housing Estate had been officially handed over to their beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking during the meeting, a former labour union leader, Mr Chris Okoro requested the Abia State Head of Service and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to look into the situations of civil servants whose contributions were deducted years back for housing projects.<\/p>\n<p>Okoro regretted that despite the deductions, many of such persons were still living in rented apartments without owning their own houses.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing his guests, Abia State Head of Service, Mr Benson Ojeikere said that the Abia State government optimally prioritized the welfare of civil servants, whom he described as the the engine room of government and other sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The HoS noted that Federal Mortgage Bank housing projects strategically compliments the efforts of the State government for civil servants.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to revive the suspended housing projects and to make them affordable, and called for the review of some eligibility conditions for civil servants to access the Mortgage Bank\u2019s facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
