Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Two persons, male adults have been confirmed dead in fatal lone motor accident at Iwo road junction along the Osogbo-Gbongan road on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

According to the Federal Road Safety Cors, Osun Sector Command, in a statement issued by the Security Commander, Leye Adegboyega on Wednesday, the accident occured as a result of mechanical deficiency violation on the DAF truck the victims were traveling with.<\/p>\n

The statement issued by Agnes Ogungbemi, the Sector Public Education Officer, revealed that fifteen passengers; thirteen male adults and two female adults were injured as a result of the crash.<\/p>\n

Adegboyega said preliminary preliminary Investigation report of the DAF Truck revealed that the driver of the truck loaded with animals was dozing while driving.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cthe crashed truck was loaded with approximately 70 animals\u2014including cows, goats, and sheep\u2014as well as human passengers seated atop the animals. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Kebbi State en route to Ikire, Osun State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe driver had dozed off on at least two occasions after the truck passed Osogbo. Upon reaching the Surprise Hotel area in Gbongan, the driver allegedly fell asleep again. As a result, the truck veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch, overturning and violently ejecting both animals and passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo fatalities were recorded at the scene, while 15 other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured were promptly transported to a Adeoye Medical Centre, Gbongan for medical attention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adegboyega, disclosed that the two injured victims and one dead body were taken to Adeoye medical centre Gbongan and 13 injured victims and one dead body were taken to Ariremako medical centre Gbongan.<\/p>\n

He added that the crashed vehicle was taken over by Nigeria Police, Ghongan Division.<\/p>\n

The Sector Commander warned that \u201call vehicles that are not road worthy should be off the highway. I urge all motorists to drive carefully.\u201d<\/p>\n
