The announcement was made by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, in a statement released by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration followed a high-level stakeholders\u2019 meeting convened to tackle growing concerns over traffic disruption caused by increased industrial operations within the Lekki Free Zone and its environs.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Hamzat noted that the e-call-up system is specifically designed to regulate the movement of articulated trucks and tankers accessing the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>He stated, \u201cI urge all stakeholders to remain fully committed to the initiative, as it is critical in enhancing logistics efficiency and improving road transportation infrastructure in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner also emphasised the state government\u2019s dedication to the initiative, emphasizing that while stakeholder consensus had previously been achieved, implementation was temporarily paused due to enforcement challenges that required further dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>He directed the immediate clearance of all articulated vehicles currently obstructing traffic on the Lekki-Epe axis and reiterated that the e-call-up system is a traffic management solution, not a revenue-generating scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnforcement of the e-call-up system is not intended as a revenue-generating initiative, but rather as a vital strategy to improve traffic flow, safety, and road infrastructure management across the state,\u201d Osiyemi stated.<\/p>\n<p>The stakeholder engagement featured active participation from major industry groups and regulatory bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Major Energies Marketer Association of Nigeria, MEMAN, Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, DAPPMAN, Lekki Worldwide Investment Company, LWIC, Lekki Free Zone, LFZ, Lekki Deep Sea Port, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, NNPC Retail, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
