Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bauchi State Government has taken decisive steps to enhance security at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport (SATBIA), banning all farming and grazing activities within the airport premises.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a security and stakeholders\u2019 meeting held at the airport, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr. Mohammad Hamisu Garba, said the move aligns with Governor Bala Mohammed\u2019s directive to strengthen the airport\u2019s security architecture and prevent further breaches.<\/p>\n

As part of the initiative, seven surveillance personnel have been deployed from nearby communities to work closely with airport authorities. Their role includes monitoring activities, reporting suspicious behavior, and preventing vandalism.<\/p>\n

Hamisu also cited the recent successful airlift of 2025 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia from the airport as proof of its operational readiness.<\/p>\n

He urged traditional leaders to support the effort by raising awareness and mobilizing local backing to protect the airport.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, SATBIA General Manager, Surveyor Babagana Muhammad Tata, disclosed that the airport had suffered recent acts of sabotage.<\/p>\n

He called for a complete overhaul of its security strategy and appealed to surrounding communities to take ownership of the facility.<\/p>\n
