{"id":165330,"date":"2025-06-02T21:47:53","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T20:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/we-are-committed-to-religious-freedom-equity"},"modified":"2025-06-02T22:52:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T21:52:25","slug":"we-are-committed-to-religious-freedom-equity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/we-are-committed-to-religious-freedom-equity","title":{"rendered":"We are committed to religious freedom, equity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration\u2019s unwavering commitment to religious freedom, equity and inclusiveness, saying it recognises, the vital role that religious organisations play in promoting peace, harmony and development in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor reaffirmed this commitment while declaring open a Thanksgiving Service and Symposium marking the first year in office of the Executive members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun State Chapter under the Chairmanship of the Bishop of Egba Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Adekunle, at Bishop\u2019s Court, Onikolobo, Abeokuta.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, Abiodun said the cooperation enjoyed by the religious bodies had made the state a place where people of all faiths could practice their beliefs without fear or favour, appreciating them for promoting peaceful co-existence, while pledging to keep preserving and promoting such.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe are proud of the religious harmony that exists in our dear State and we will do all within our power to preserve and promote it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you mark this important milestone, I urge you to reflect not only on the achievements of the past but also on the immense responsibilities ahead. There is still work to be done in our communities, our dear State and great nation, Nigeria\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He congratulated the State Chairman and his Executive Council members for celebrating a year of accountability and transparency, urging them to continue to serve with diligence and the fear of God as leadership was not a title but a trust to be held in high esteem.<\/p>\n<p>In their goodwill messages, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and the Ajalaye of Ijebu Ilugun South, Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Olusanu, congratulated the Rt. Revd.<\/p>\n<p>In his exhortation, the Head of Catholic Secretariat, the Most Revd. Peter Odetoyinbo, admonished all to continue to heed to the commands of God, love one another and seize the occasion to renew their commitment to God, as all competition, supremacy tussle, bitterness and envy must be shunned for better service to God.<\/p>\n<p>In his remark, the CAN Chairman, Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Adekunle, appreciated the executive members for their support, diligence and commitment and called for continuous steadfastness in the service of God and prayed that God should see them through the 5-year journey.<\/p>\n<p>In attendance were the Archbishop of the Lagos Province Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion who doubles as the Bishop of the Diocese of Remo, Most Revd.
