{"id":165561,"date":"2025-06-04T08:46:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T07:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nafdac-uncovers-conficates-expired-beverages-in-kaduna"},"modified":"2025-06-04T09:48:51","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T08:48:51","slug":"nafdac-uncovers-conficates-expired-beverages-in-kaduna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nafdac-uncovers-conficates-expired-beverages-in-kaduna","title":{"rendered":"NAFDAC uncovers, conficates expired beverages in Kaduna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has uncovered and conficated expired beverages worth N35 million in Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Director, Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, NAFDAC Kaduna Office, Andrew Tamanuwa, made this known while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>Tamanuwa said that interception of the expired beverages followed a tip-off from a good samaritan on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tamanuwa, a good Nigerian informed NAFDAC that two buses and a golf wagon car were loaded with expired non-alcoholic beverages heading to Kwanar Dangora, Kiru LGA in Kano State.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, said NAFDAC investigation and enforcement operatives swung into action, intercepted the vehicles and arrested the owner of the expired non-alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Director also revealed that the NAFDAC operatives confiscated the products which comprised 700 packs of Schweppes and 300 packs of Fanta Orange flavour.<\/p>\n<p>He said further investigation led to a warehouse at Bayajidda Road, Kaduna, where more expired beverages were discovered.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tamanuwa, the expired beverages included; 588 packs of schweppes, 3,508 packs of Coca-Cola, zero- sugar, and 87 packs of fanta orange flavor.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the products expired in November 2024 and had been evacuated to the agency\u2019s warehouse, awaiting destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Tamanuwa said investigation was ongoing on the case in order to identify other culprits.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the public to report suspicious products, especially during the festive period to safeguard public health and protect Nigerians\u2019 health.<\/p>\n<p>Tamanuwa reiterated the agency\u2019s commitment to continuing vigilance against expired and harmful products, assuring Nigerians of its resolve to safeguard their health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
