Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Newly graduated Medical Doctors in Nigeria have been cautioned against disrespecting the patients under their care or being arrogant to Senior Doctors in the profession.<\/p>\n

The Registrar of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, Dr Fatima Kyari gave the warning on Wednesday at Gregory University Uturu, Abia State while administering an Oath on 83 graduating Doctors during the 3rd induction ceremony of the school.<\/p>\n

The Registrar, who was represented by Dr Tijjani Mandaka, reminded the new graduates of their responsibilities in saving lives and enhancing public health.<\/p>\n

She encouraged the Doctors to ensure that they maintain ethics of the medical profession by avoiding any unwholesome conducts that may attract them heavy sanctions from the MDCN.<\/p>\n

The Registrar, while congratulating the new Doctors on their graduation, urged them to be respectful to senior Medical Doctors under whose guidance they will work and to ensure they do not dabble into the fields they are not familiar with.<\/p>\n

Dr Kyari urged the graduates to file all necessary documents for their Housemanship, encouraging them to always know when to seek the second opinion of their colleague Doctors in a patient\u2019s care and when to refer a patient.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou must exhibit humility and kindness to the patients\u2019 welfare. Every patient you encounter deserves respect\u201d, Dr Kyari said.<\/p>\n

Earlier in their addresses, the Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, University, Professor Celestina Njoku and Chancellor, Mr Okechukwu Gregory Ibe Jr., charged the new graduates to play key roles in healthcare delivery and remain good ambassadors of the institution.<\/p>\n

They noted that the world is facing new healthcare challenges which requires the skills and understanding of medical professionals.<\/p>\n
