{"id":165839,"date":"2025-06-05T20:35:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T19:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/eid-el-kabir-low-patronage-hits-damaturu-livestock-market"},"modified":"2025-06-05T21:39:05","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T20:39:05","slug":"eid-el-kabir-low-patronage-hits-damaturu-livestock-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/eid-el-kabir-low-patronage-hits-damaturu-livestock-market","title":{"rendered":"Eid-el-Kabir: Low patronage hits Damaturu livestock market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A few hours before Eid-el-Kabir, sellers of rams at the Damaturu livestock market have expressed frustration over what they described as poor patronage.<\/p>\n<p>They made their feelings known this evening while speaking to DAILY POST in Damaturu.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as buyers of the sacrificial animals also bitterly complained about the hike in prices.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a large number of rams, sheep, goats, and other livestock brought to the market from various parts of the state and beyond, the number of buyers remained discouraging.<\/p>\n<p>This was attributed to the unprecedented increase in the prices of livestock.<\/p>\n<p>Livestock dealers such as Salisu Sa\u2019adu and Ali Alhaji Mohammed confirmed that prices have increased by 70 per cent to 80 per cent compared to last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe prices of rams are very high when compared to last year, as rams sold for N70,000 to N80,000 last year, are now sold between N200,000 and N250,000 this year,\u201d Sa\u2019adu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have rams of N800,000 and N1,000,000,\u201d Mohammed said.<\/p>\n<p>Some buyers who spoke to DAILY POST said they had resolved to suspend their intention of purchasing sacrificial animals until tomorrow, the Eid day, when they hope prices may come down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
