{"id":166497,"date":"2025-06-11T22:29:58","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T21:29:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/dalung-critiques-apc-decampees-as-sinners-seeking-forgiveness"},"modified":"2025-06-11T23:46:19","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T22:46:19","slug":"dalung-critiques-apc-decampees-as-sinners-seeking-forgiveness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/dalung-critiques-apc-decampees-as-sinners-seeking-forgiveness","title":{"rendered":"Dalung Critiques APC Decampees as Sinners Seeking Forgiveness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has condemned the ongoing wave of defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a congregation of \u201csinners in search of forgiveness,\u201d and not a reflection of the APC\u2019s quantitative accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking on the political realignments currently reshaping Nigeria\u2019s political space, Dalung called to attention, the former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole\u2019s remarks, which stated that any politician, regardless of what he or she has done will \u201cbe forgiven\u201d as soon as he\/she is awarded a ticket by the APC.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dalung, this view is now playing out in real time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are people who have committed heinous crimes against the Nigerian people and are jumping into the APC ship not because they believe in President Tinubu, but because they want their sins forgiven,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the mass defections do not enhance President Tinubu\u2019s administration but rather pose future risks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re not adding value to Tinubu. Instead, he\u2019s compounding his party\u2019s internal troubles, which may lead to an implosion,\u201d Dalung warned.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing from Hausa proverbs, Dalung questioned the real beneficiaries of these political moves. \u201cIf animals celebrate the death of a butcher, has the knife also died? If politicians defect, have the people also defected?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>On the issue of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai reportedly aligning with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dalung dismissed any threat to the party\u2019s 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Adebayo remains the party\u2019s most credible figure since the days of Chief MKO Abiola and has consistently voiced opposition to the current government\u2019s failed policies. \u201cHe is a force to beat in 2027.
