{"id":166867,"date":"2025-06-14T22:23:06","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T21:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/peter-obi-betrayed-me-kenneth-okonkwo"},"modified":"2025-06-14T23:29:59","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T22:29:59","slug":"peter-obi-betrayed-me-kenneth-okonkwo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/peter-obi-betrayed-me-kenneth-okonkwo","title":{"rendered":"Peter Obi betrayed me \u2013 Kenneth Okonkwo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Veteran actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, has claimed that former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, betrayed him amid internal party disputes.<\/p>\n<p>Kenneth stated this in a viral interview with Symfoni.<\/p>\n<p>Okonkwo, who was once a spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, officially exited the party in February 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Obi went against his advice and went back to support the embattled Julius Abure-led faction of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Kenneth claimed that Obi was misled by LP executives who claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had recognised them.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cAny politician that knows what he\u2019s doing cannot be betrayed by another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is anybody that betrayed the other, I can say it emphatically that Peter Obi betrayed me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Julius Abure-led LP members lied to Obi that the Independent National Electoral Commission had accepted them and Obi surreptitiously went back to them but I told him: \u2018Sir, you have made a public statement on integrity and even if INEC has accepted them, that is not a criterion for you to go back and start dealing with them because they have shown that they are not democratic.
