Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has assured the International Organization for Migration, IOM, of a strong partnership to enhance the resettlement, reconstruction, and recovery programme of the state government.<\/p>\n

Buni, in a statement through his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, made this known while receiving the Chief of Mission, IOM UN Migration in Nigeria, Sharon Dimanche. He explained that his administration had launched a state policy to address the challenges faced by Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.<\/p>\n

The governor further stated that his administration had allocated five per cent of the state budget to provide more infrastructure and facilitate the resettlement and integration of IDPs with dignity.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment has invested in education, agriculture, healthcare delivery, roads, electricity and water supply to fast track the resettlement and recovery process of the government.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy this has worked for us, and we do not have IDP camp in the state as our displaced persons have been resettled with dignity, which has become a point of reference\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The Chief of Mission of IOM UN Migration in Nigeria, commended the state government for its commitment to the cause of displaced persons in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes a leader with a special heart to show such great concern to the resettlement of displaced persons with dignity\u201d, Dimanche said.<\/p>\n

She reiterated the commitment of IOM to partner with the Yobe State Government to improve the lives of the people.<\/p>\n
