{"id":167174,"date":"2025-06-16T20:13:27","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T19:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nigerias-inflation-drops-to-22-97"},"modified":"2025-06-16T21:30:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T20:30:22","slug":"nigerias-inflation-drops-to-22-97","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/nigerias-inflation-drops-to-22-97","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria\u2019s inflation drops to 22.97%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, on Monday, announced that Nigeria\u2019s headline inflation rate has dropped to 22.97 percent.<\/p>\n<p>NBS said the May 2025 headline inflation rate decreased 0.74 per cent compared to the April headline inflation rate.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statistics office, inflation declined significantly to 1.53 percent in May from 1.86 percent in April, on a month-on-month basis.<\/p>\n<p>This indicated a slower pace in the rise of prices across the economy.<\/p>\n<p>On a year-on-year basis, the NBS said the headline inflation rate was 10.98 per cent lower than the rate recorded in May 2024 (33.95 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>It stated that the easing in inflation was driven by a slowdown in price increases across key segments, including farm produce, utilities, clothing, and health.<\/p>\n<p>Also, NBS announced that food inflation declined to 21.14 percent in May from 21.16 percent in April.<\/p>\n<p>The statistics office attributed this sharp decline largely to base-year effects following the inflation rebasing methodology.<\/p>\n<p>On a month-on-month basis, however, food inflation increased marginally to 2.19 percent in May from 2.06 percent in April.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
