{"id":167459,"date":"2025-06-26T23:23:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T22:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nass-will-resolve-rivers-political-crisis-akpabio"},"modified":"2025-06-26T23:23:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T22:23:00","slug":"nass-will-resolve-rivers-political-crisis-akpabio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nass-will-resolve-rivers-political-crisis-akpabio","title":{"rendered":"NASS will resolve Rivers political crisis \u2013 Akpabio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday declared that the political crisis in Rivers State would be resolved by the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Akpabio said the National Assembly would play a key role in ensuring political stability and restoring peace in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that efforts were underway to address the root causes of the crisis and foster reconciliation among aggrieved stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate President spoke during the commissioning of the Kugbo Taxi and Bus Terminal in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are determined to ensure that normalcy returns to Rivers State. The National Assembly will work closely with all parties involved to ensure lasting peace and progress for the people,\u201d Akpabio said.<\/p>\n<p>The political crisis in Rivers State had led to the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and the state legislature, three months ago.<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months while declaring a state of emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Since his suspension, Fubara had met with Tinubu and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, his estranged political godfather, in a move to push for reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Wike, who expressed readiness for reconciliation, had charged Fubara to meet with other aggrieved stakeholders in the state for settlement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
