{"id":167463,"date":"2025-06-27T08:18:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T07:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/wikes-aide-rubbishes-report-alleging-land-allocation-to-ministers-son"},"modified":"2025-06-27T08:18:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T07:18:00","slug":"wikes-aide-rubbishes-report-alleging-land-allocation-to-ministers-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/wikes-aide-rubbishes-report-alleging-land-allocation-to-ministers-son","title":{"rendered":"Wike\u2019s aide rubbishes report alleging land allocation to Minister\u2019s son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has responded to a viral report alleging that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, allocated over 2,000 hectares of land to one of his sons in the highbrow areas of Maitama and Asokoro.<\/p>\n<p>Describing the claim as baseless and malicious, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister, in a statement on Thursday, dismissed the report as nothing more than \u201canother falsehood from the vault of those whose main job is to malign the FCT Minister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Olayinka didn\u2019t mince words in his response, calling out the authors of the report as \u201cquack journalists\u201d peddling fabricated stories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Asokoro and Maitama of today, where can the FCT Minister see 2,082 hectares of land to allocate to anyone? Only quack journalists will go to town with story of allocation of 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro and Maitama, reason some of us have continually advocated for professionalism in journalism,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that not even a single plot had been allocated to any of Wike\u2019s children and challenged the publishers to present proof if they had any.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe publication, claiming that the FCT Minister allocated 2,082 hectares of land to his son, is false and should be disregarded,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>Olayinka acknowledged the public\u2019s right to scrutinize leaders but stressed the importance of fact-based reporting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy attention has been drawn to yet, another malicious falsehood coming from the same elements whose job is to defame and malign the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cEven though it is the right of the Minister and members of his family, both immediate and extended to own lands anywhere in Nigeria, including the FCT, provided all necessary conditions are met, no land has been allocated to any of his children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the aide, the only documented allocation cited in the report was a Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited \u2014 a legally registered Nigerian firm \u2014 strictly for agricultural purposes in Bwari Area Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo what\u2019s is wrong with a farmer getting land allocation strictly for the purpose of agriculture?\u201d he fiercely asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, a company duly registered in Nigeria got land allocation in Bwari Area Council for the purpose of farming,\u201d Olayinka clarified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
